Hey Ralph, the bottom and strake design looks identical to White Trash's bottom, my pump is set back about 3" from the stock position, how much is yours?

Nice job BTW.

I made an attatchment to put on my engine stand, works really well, now I have a taller stand, you can put the bow eye through it and viola, one person can flip the boat in about ten minutes, I use a 2"X3" spreader bar on the rear transome eyes and I use the cherry picker to lift the rear.

GT you need to post some photos of your contraption.  We all need this kind of advice when it comes to moving hulls around.  Can't always get good help if any.

no there are only 2 rails on the dolly and i put them on the boat where it sits on the trailer. i will probably add 2 more rails cuz i just dont like the way it is now

That is exactly how mine sat for months. 2 rails are fine i think ..   I pushed it all over the patio that way, now my dolly is my work bench with wheels

this crack just kept growing we got it ground down about as much as we can now we will reinforce it from the inside and build it up on the outside.

there is nothing stranger than taking a grinder to your boat this is where we started to have problems when we tried to fill the groove with glass it just kept on wanting to pop out of the V. so we mixed the resin so it would kick faster and that didn't work. i was using mat at first then we tried cloth, still didnt work so we gave up and i came home and started reading the forums and from what i can tell we don't have a large enough working area. So i will feather the groove out about an inch above and below the groove and see if that helps. I know why these guys get the big $$ to cap a boat now. we will get it eventually

Hey Ralph, impressive progress for such a short period of time.

As far as the capping is concerned, go grab youself a jar of Cab-O-Sil, it's basically ground up fiberglass and it's used to thicken the resin without weakening it, it will also work on the cracks that you talk about, use a resperator though it's nasty chit.

On those spider cracks, use a die grinder to trace out the hairlines and eliminate all traces that way, sometimes you will go all the way through which sucks but the fix is to use the blue masking tape on the underside of the cracks to keep the resin from flowing through, use the resin and Cab-O-Sil  first, let it kick, rough it up, unless you're using laminating resin and then go back over it with light matt, cloth is OK but sometimes too uniform to work with.. Looks good so far, sometimes the hardest part is not getting frustrated.

Looks great Ralph.  Having just gone thru this, if there's anything I can do to lend some advice, please let me know. I don't know what I'm doing but it turned out okay and you and your pops are such craftsmen, I'm certain it's gonna be badass.

For the record,  I went single stage on the bottom and base/clear on the sides and top like what HD mentioned and am really happy.  I also agree with what GT and Proppy said about mixing in some additives in the resin. I used Collidial Silica for the bulk of the high strength glassing/fillin and then went with the microballons to finsh the shaping.

From my texts today, from my bud, they're still unsure what failed. "Mechanical failure of some sort" is all the family knows. Curt came to work this morning looking like shit, his wife and daughter at Dave's house I guess. I sent him home after an hour. Wish I had met the guy!

I can certainly understand the fear Ralph, but that should NOT stop you from doing what you love to do. From what I understand, Dave woulda said the same thing..........
