Going to shoot a single stage urethane, do I need to use a certain or specific primer for good adhesion?

you should use a compatable urethane primer sealer

I'll bet your local paint shop where your gonne buy your paint and primer does. Go in and talk to em and tell em what yer gonna do and they should be able to hook you up w/ a "system" of all compatible products.
