so i finally took the pump apart got the bowl off and can seen to budge the impeller from the shaft. and tricks to aid? 
also i can move the impeller up and down about and eigth of an inch, should it have some play like that or should it be tight?

Tighter , for sure. A little bit of heat (propane torch I believe) to the impellor should break it loose from the shaft. Hopefully someone with more experience will nail down some more solid info for ya .

thanks guys i got it off with the help of some heat and a good puller.  just popped of all of a sudden.

i got the wear ring off and put it on the impeller i can move in around and rock it back and forth seems slighly lose, but i have never seen one before. also the surface of the impeller and and wear ring seem rough should it be smooth?

i will take them to a local marine shop and see that what they say.

so i took the impeller and wear ring to a local shop (bergeron eng) and he said that the wear ring did not look too bad, he still recommeded replacing it but told me to look elsewhere, suggested filing down the impeller edges, and checking out the two rubber seals on the front of the shaft, and making sure there is a smooth transition at the intake to avoid cavitation.  I have attached some pics let me know what you think.
