why do u say the hull is trashed pics of what u can see look ok why not wrench it out n sell the hull for cheap before destroying a savable hull

It might be a hull buts thats stretching the definition....it has more than one hole in the bottom.....anyway I'm in Ole Miss and the float is in Oregon..... And it is in bad shape..5 years of Outside uncovered ..... And from the little frozen lakes in the cylinders to the cut stringers at some point left open...I'm fairly confident the rainy weather has infiltrated all the wood as well
.... It's time for that hull to be recycled....it's a donor now.

Update:   I got the boat for $150.00!

Brother in Law and his son in
Law decided to keep the Trl for a platform to make a utility Trl . They are going to unbolt the pump and disassemble the diverter to send to me.
Then in a couple months ill have em ship the pump and gauges/ misc items to So-Cal for me to hold at a friends house for further evaluation or for trade/sale/ or donation.
 Thanks for your thoughts and input.

Plus I am a bit of a smartass and saw I'd fit right in..    ;0)

Dad's family has been in Jackson MS for several generations.  My cousin still owns the Scanlon-Taylor Millworks.  That won't get you much more than a cup of coffee,  but I don't expect I will ever get back there.  I'm 52 now and I've only been back twice.  Dad had 9 brothers and sisters but only the oldest and the youngest are still living.  Good luck in your boating adventures and congratulations on finding this place.  You have it pegged right, good people willing to help on here and only a few 'tards.   8)

That's cool....family.. I live just outside Tupelo...about an hour South of Memphis....moved here cuz I was tired of dealing with the craziness in Southern California....lived there for 40 of my 54 years .... Newport / Huntington / Redondo mostly.

 I don't like traffic.   LOL.   Now it's a right out of the driveway ..4 miles...then a left and a right into my office.  Sometimes I have to stop at the traffic light they put in 6 months ago.

If yer ever in Memphis, I know some good places to chow some BBQ .. I'll buy ya lunch.

This is one of 6 forums im on for my hobbies and with out a doubt the best one. Unless your a complete a$$hat the regulars here have no problem helping out and giving you a hand. I have had issues with my projects and dudes here have given me there numbers and spent a few mins to a few hours on the phone given advise. Great people and alot of knowledge here.

Follow up: got the boat to my brother in laws house. Finally. ....there was a delay as seller first could not locate the titles for boat and trailer .but they were found and it is all clear!!!
...first he is going to remove the Place diverter and ship it to me..... Then pull the pump itself and I'll decide to either ship it to a friend in SoCal or here to my place in Ole Miss

Total : $150.00 for the boat and free for the tow to his house on my nieces husbands backhoe Trl.

First off, let him keep the pump. You got a JG. I , and others, can hook you up with a nozzle to supply him if he doesn't wanna buy a PD yet. The pump does YOU no NO GOOD unless it happens to have a S/S impeller which I guarantee it don't.

Smokin' deal, I get that. At $150, you got the cheapest diverter in history. Let it go at that, direct the BIL to this site to fix what's left.

Just my .02....spend it as you like.......

The only thing salvageable are donor parts ..... The hull is shot.  The block is toast as well.  There are a set of Hardin marine logs for a 455....... Possibly the gauges...... Not sure about fuel tanks yet.....helm....etc. BIL not interested in it,

It's a 2 axel Trl front hubs are burnt and frozen.  He is going to check to see how much to RR the running gear on it,( depending on the overall road worthiness of it) either fix it and sell it or maybe convert it to a utility Trl for himself......or,  keep everything that may  be useful and scrap the rest.

So far as the pump, he said the impeller spins freely and old owner said it worked fine b4 the motor got smoked.

Like you observed, I only bought it for the diverter basically.  It will be nice to have on my boat for this summer!

I wouldn't worry about the Block so much. If KA heads, as most marine 455 engines had, could be a buck or two to be had there, as well as the Nodular crankshafts affiliated with that.

Lots of Hot Rod Olds folks out there lookin for that stuff bro'........... ;)

Even if you butcher the transom to get the pump out, you'll still have to get the remaining transom off of the bezel. Might as well leave the transom on the boat so you're not chasing your work around the floor in the garage. Wedges, sharp putty knives and a twelve pack of :beer: then leave the hull behind your local Home Depot.
