Harbor Freight had one for $5.99 ;D  Anyways here is what I did today.  Got all the way to scribing the feet. Tommrrow I will try and get it all bolted in O0

I called Tom at http://www.jetboatperformance.com and he guided me thru this part.  By the way that is where I got all my hardware for converting a street engine to marine.  Before anyone else says it I need to move the the engine back about another 1/4"  Hopefully this wlll give me enough stringer to bolt to :o

Looks killer!

I've seen 2 jet boats with 1/4 sringers that both had ditched a 455 and they were both just like that. One of them the stringers were partially rotten.

You should use stainless hardware on those stringers.  ;)

looks good chaz but why cant you move the engine back????? you only need 1/4 inch of play from the pump shaft to the back of the yoke. i'm concernd that you will rip the stringer out with the torque of the big ford.
call tom again and have him look at the pics you posted and see what he says, before you bolt it in.

i just dont want you to fock up your hard work.

I have never attempted anything so difficult in my life...  I have been trying to get this thing in for 3 days.  30 hrs and I have most of the bolts thru the stringers.  Tommrrow I will have to remove all the feet and try to  redrill the holes that I couldnt get to go thru.  I built a foot for the front so it wouldn't have to be close to the endge of that stringer.  If anyone knows if I have to "ream out" the hole I drilled to get it to fit porperly should I fill the hole with liquid nails or something?  I dont think it will matter as I have two of three bolts in all the stringers at this point.  Also should I be treating the holes with anything to keep water out?

Thanks,
Charles

Well, I got it in.  Tommrrow I hook up the wires and maybe get to go water test it ;D  Ordered my Sea Goin? Poxy to fill the stringer holes, so I will have to pull all the bolts again when that gets here.  I will be replacing all the bolts with stainless steel also.  40 hours of work to install an engine.  If had to do it again I would have paid the $300 Ultra Custom boats quoted me to install it.  I can't remember the last time I worked that hard on something.  Oh well, I guess I have always been a Shade tree mechanic at heart. ;)
Thanks to Jim and your wife @ Emanoin Performance Marine for the very late night tips.

Does anyone have pics or a good description of the best way to plumb the water from the jet thru manifolds and risers?  I have currently, line from jet to short hose, to T, one end of t has ball valve to garden hose fitting, other end goes to gate valve then splits to the front of the block(old water pump inlets) exits from thermo housing to front of both manifolds, then to risers.  Will this work here in So cal where the water never gets really cold?  I think I read that I need to go from jet to manifolds front, then back of manifolds to front of block and finally thermo to risers... this seems like a lot of hoses.  What do you guys think?  will I be ok with my current set upor do I have to change something before I go put it in the water tommrrow?
