Project 1979 Sanger Super Jet
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:17:25 PM »
Well after looking and looking, searching and searching, I actually found something I am in love with.

Found it on Craigslist in Tucson, Arizona. Gave Raymond a call and had him go look at it. He liked it so much, the phone call I got was "Well, you have a boat" and buy the way "This thing is so nice, if you dont want it I'll keep it" and god knows Ray has enough boats.

1979 Sanger Super Jet
Set up for a 454, No motor

Started looking immediatly for a 454 to build, couldnt really find something that wasnt already bored over .60, until Ray found this little thing down by him.

This "Little" thing started life as a '69 Corvette 427

Lol, The things really growing on me too Jeremy! Prettiest thing in my front yard/driveway! But you got a 95% complete boat here! Only thing is paint and the interior being redone, then put it together! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Boats actually A 78 by the HID, but titled a 79.

Pump rebuilt in '01, parked shortly after (elderly owners from Havasu).

Engine is what's gonna make this thing truly unique. Little thing?!?! This is like the Holy Grail of BBC engines!

Oh Yeah, 69 Hi Po 427/425hp Block (COPO or Corvette), 66 427/390hp oval heads.....seems to be put together VERY right, Should be a force to be reckoned with! (definately found a diamond by accident, some Corvette/Yenko restorers are gonna cringe we're putting this in a boat, but we gotta! that's what it was bought for!) Pretty sure there's a 454 crank in it (Did ping it, sounds forged to me!, and I'll bet my next paycheck 4 bolt main).

Ray

(BTW that new 460 is on it's way, the guys bud wants to deliver it, lol. Long story guys, Jeremy can elaborate on THAT story,  >:D)

I think you should just leave the boat here................................... ..................... >:D

I havent been able to whipe the grin off my face since we found that motor. I think he's gonna wake up one day and REALLY regret the decision to sell it for what he did!  >:D

What can I say? I have an honest face! (And the guy with the boat wouldn't budge, so I hadda make up for it somehow!).

Can't wait either! Can't get the Moo outta the garage! (gonna be a fiasco tomorrow rearranging so I can, taking her out Friday, lol).

But this is gonna be one of those Speshul Boats, small, tight, flat hull with a ton of HP! I'm likin it! Congrat's Jeremy!

In a round about way, I am the 2nd owner and from the reciepts that came with it, it was professionally maintained. To keep the Stringers looking good I am going to add steel to the outside of the rail kit.

Engine mounts (get wood looking at them in the 'rage, BBC, but it'll do!).

Headers

Pretty much all the missing crap we all (I know I did) search for to complete a boat!

Didn't even post the extra crap with the engine!

Jeremy, you are SO set up here!

The only thing I can see we nned is some hoses. This is looking like an old 427 w/ a fair amount of compresion and a wazzoo stick in it, judging by the casting numbers, head CCs, and stud girdle. Looks to be done well judging by the hardware, ARP bolts n shit. I say drop off the aluminum for polish, the interior to be redone, we can buff the gel tape and paint the Sanger ring and motor blue, pick up the aluminum and interior and she's DONE!

I have logs so pardon my ignorance here: On the pics of the headers - what are the little holes for in the headers that are located beside the H2O injection fittings? Or am I just confused like usual?  :sly:
