That is redic and stupid since they gave my boat a white glove/anal inspection when we drove home to Cali on the 15 fwy, makes that inspection seem pointless.

I feel ya I lived in ventura for 4 years and I sold my boat during that time because of the bull.
The only one you could go out on for the day was lake piru, it's about 5 feet by 10 feet so you might be able to turn around if your lucky.

The true story behind the 30 day deal is because the Colorado river is full of these things and they don't want it in the local lakes, I agree I think it's bullshit. The real way to fix it is just tell them the boat hasn't been in any water ways for the last 45 days or so. It works for me here on the central coast.

My boat is under "quarantine" right now. They found a mussel on my anchor the size of pin head (I didn't see it).  30 minutes at Vidal doing paperwork and then they put a cable through the bow eyelet and the trailer with a special seal on it so I can't launch the boat. They let me go and told me to call a number. I called the guy and he told me a minimum 1 week quarantine and to "take everything out of my boat and let it air out"...  I call back Friday to find out what happens next.

I was talking to a member this week. He told me that while he was being inspected at Pyramid that if he didn't fire up his jet boat on the trailer, and rev the motor, it was an automatic fail. He did, and they quarantined him. Less than a quarter size spot of water hit the ground when he revved it up.

They made me do the same thing at Big Bear.  Just made me put my boat on this stupid water pump for 15min.  Hot water at that.  Watching my temp gage rise very high sucked ass.

I would not even think about starting my boat on a trailer without removing the drive shaft.  I choose to not go anywhere that will be doing this.  Someone needs to get the memo out to the waterfowl till then we are fighting a losing battle.

Even with a jetaway, they would make you put it in gear, actual forward motion!
The person, a few cars in front of me... Had an outboard, they made him put the propeller in forward motion!!
Totally unsafe

It's absolutely ridiculous to have to start the engine in the first place!! If the bilge is dry and the boat is spotless... It fair to"assume" that the boat is clean!
No need to ruin people's day, and have a huge line of people for inspection just to turn everyone away who doesn't have a bow cable for the lake!

Best part of my "fail" receipt - the inspector marked
Last time in water - NEW!
Lake last launched at - Never, brand new!!

Let's not even mention how mad I was!

There is no appeal for a failed "new" boat?

Has this process changed since 2011?

I'm sure there is an appeal that can be made- but I'm sure it would take ALOT more time and energy than what it's worth. They have a whole computer system that stores your cf#- once you're there... No California lakes for
7 day quarantine... I waited to run my boat this long, I'll wait another week and already have.

...The only normal local lake

Process changed since last summer- I never heard of starting the engine till I went this last time.

I'm sure they "pick and choose" who fails and who doesn't

Commie-fornia system always wins!
