38*BTDC and 15 degrees of advance built into the distributor, all in by 2000 RPM.

36 here also...

36 here and it comes all in at mid 2500s. Vacuum advance locked out. (Don't just unplug the vacuum line)

Oh ya, Lock out vacume advance too 

Drive it, advance timing, repeat over til it starts pinging them slightly go back then your done

X2, my timing was retarded so bad when I bought it, it would barely start. Kept twisting the dist on Elsinore until it was tits.

For those that run at lake Elsinore at 75* and 1265' elevation, the same timing at the river (~450', & 115*) MAY be too much...

I run 36-38* in the spring, but when the temps get above 100, I back it down to 34*.
From Parker (350' elev.) to Mead (1100-1150' elev.) makes a small difference, but that's where I boat.

One bad piston is all it takes to ruin your weekend

Wow, not one person even asked what your engine basics are.  What's the motor compression, type of heads, cam, fuel.... nothing....... just 36* and run it.  36* may be right, or it could be just enough to beat your motor apart.  Hearing a pinging motor in a jet boat isn't the easiest thing, not everyone's hearing is that in tune.  My suggestion would be to start conservative around 30-32 and learn how to read your spark plugs.  That way you're not guessing. JMHO, Greg.

Come on Greg... He didn't ask for a recommendation, he asked what is our timing set at.

So you're saying a person who's hearing that may not be as in tune as some others should jump into plug reading?
So now he'll know what plugs are supposed to look like but still won't know how to get them there.
I don't think there is a whole lot left on the table between 32 and 36 degrees in a stock to mild marine application. 
Not to mention, he can clearly see what each one of us owns/drives and can probably follow accordingly...
I know I would be duplicating a big hp tune for my stock cruiser.
