Well so far as of today I am out of the running. I have a ton of work to do to the boat. In the first lap of the first heat we all hit some mudhens, well my hull is cracked and broken shoe bolts in the intake and a well altered impeller and shaft, not to mention the crap stuffed in the bowl and damage to the vains. I am not sure how this is going to turn out but needless to say I think the Sanger is done. :'( Way too much money needed to get it put back in shape for the race. I will post some pics latter after I go pic up some batteries. This just plain sucks ass. >:(

I seen the shoe knocked down but shit son. I know that boat was running hard, and that's why we were baffled by why it slowed down so much but at the same RPM pretty much...

Your right, I got my ass handed to me. All I have to do is show and run laps at the next race to take second for the season. At this point I can't even do that. Back of jack you know not of what you speak. The boat is fucked. It is a fairly thin hull and is cracked in front of the intake. Basically I won the race on Sunday, being I had a working GPS the whole time and didn't break out. :o This was a Nostalgia Jet race as far as I was told, not a Comp Jet free for all. That I would have finished second in anyway, do to rules :o

I hit a seagull on the 5 doing over a hundred miles an hour head on to the winshield and did not crack it , your gonna tell me that a slow ass mud hen and you doing 60-65 you managed to crack the bottom of your hull?

Sunday wasn't a race. It was an exhibition run. There was no winners or losers on Sunday. You were invited to put on a show, and thats just what you guys did.
You have less 3 weeks to get your boat back in order - make it happen - I hope to see you there.

Brad yes there was winners, Circle Jets with the NJBA and all the folks watching the races. ;D I could not get out of there with all the folks coming and talking and saying how great the show was. We all won on this. 8)

I split this thread off to its own and moved it to the warzone.
As you all know the points race for the Nostalgia Class is very close and the finals are coming up in less then 3 weeks, but Jim has had a wrench (or duck) thrown into his action plan.
I think smack talk is healthy and drama sells, but don't get carried away.
Just no personal attacks
No taking things personal (its the internet!)
No spineless remarks - if you dont have the nerve to say it to ones face, then dont say it here.
Just keep it friendly, we're all here for the same reason - the love of the jet boat.

Just came back from Jim's. Yup the boat is fucked up, if he didn't hit a mudhen then it was something else. But it's running great, just screwed stuff up on the pump.

He has one on his workbench, but its trashed. Needs a complete rebuild. Along with the rest of my pumps ;D

Everything is fixable, but I am just not sure if I can get it done on time. I will be grinding the crack out tomarrow tosee how bad it really is. The good thing is the trashed impeller is my B set-up. I picked up a slab of Aluminum today so I can build a new rideplate, as mine is cracked and burnt. Yes it is burnt bad. I was able to fix the shoe, I will reinstall it latter. I am hoping the last shaft I have sitting on the bench is usable. We will see after I put it on the lathe tomarrow.

Well there my fine duck huntin friend, the engine is out the fin is out the pump is out, some of the glass is ground out and the pan is coming off in a few. The broken rideplate is next for removale. I am not sure if I will have it done in time. I am going to give it a shot. I hope to hear from a possible sponsor, being this is totally unexpected costs.

OK the pump is done except for the Sanger Ring being installed. Tom I am sending you my impeller to see if you can see what I see or think I see. As for the Hull I still have about 4hrs left of work to remove a hook/divet that I have put in doing the repair. The new shoe is constructed as well as the new rideplate. The shaft was good in the pump, only had .002 runout. Still not quite sure what really happened under there but it is almost ready for the lil 466 BBF to go back in, with its new High Flow Dynamics Oil Pump. If everything goes right it will be in the water this weekend. It will be a long road of testing to get some sort of set-up for the race.. I can say the engine was perfect at Ming and that is and was where all our problems had been prior the the NJBA Exhibition Event. I wish I could say I changed a bunch of stuff to come back out and stomp every other boat, but I will just be happy to make the event at this point. I did add a new Ginsu Knife to the boat. ;D Thanks Ducky, Scott from Persition Boat Werks.
Tony you have helped way more than I could ever thank you for, Thanks a bunch man. Steve Thanks for the help the other day yankin the engine, hope to see you back here tomarrow while we reinstall it. Your probably right Mark, maybe I over exagerated the fact I drove right through 250 Black Duck Mudhen things just kind of pointed me in that direction. It must have been a sand bar/rockbar or a tree or maybe even the chevy anchor that Ralph through out of his boat many moons ago :o When we are all done I will have Tony or Steve post some pics, as I can not find the right batteries for my camera in this towne.
BTW- we have a few more hrs of sanding/filling to get the bottom flat again. The glass cloth that we used was a bit thicker than I am used to and we ended up with a few bumpds.
I am looking forward to using my new Ginsu Knife, these things are razzor sharpe ;D

i think whats throwing me off is the long - shorter depth fin behind it....at first look it looks like your startboard side intake fin and its lined up with that.
so you have 2 fins that are running on your keel? maybe post another picture from a different angel....or i will just check it out next weekend.

Jim I couldn't help but notice that the paint on the boat'saxle is chipped? Hmmm... must be a race boat! >:D
BTW, I think the "second fin" we're seeing is the port side intake fin and the starboard side fin isn't in the picture. :-\

Well after some testing the engine is back out and the thrust Bearing (Thanks Tom) is being replaced, do to a strange faint humming sound as well as the wear ring to a shouldered one to tighten the pump up.

Not sure if we are testing carbs too or just the new set-up. I just hope we have enough daylight. I will say this is about the most anal I have ever been when it comes to a pump. I got the # I wanted, thanks to my crew. I just hope all the hard work pays off.
The crew for the 300 is looking good we even have my crew chief coming out from Idaho. Watch for a good finish this year.

About Testing at Ming Thursday/Friday: Just a heads up....according to the Kern County site...

Only sailboats are allowed the 2nd full weekend each month and Tuesdays and Thursdays after 1:30 pm; motorboats are allowed all other times
....so, no testing Thursday after 1:30. Cheese and wine only with your dockers and deck shoes.

when i spun out at parker i called jim brock and told him what was happening and he told me to run wide, because i cant keep up with the plate boats around the pin. so if you look at the video from parker and ming i run wide so i can keep my speed and not spin. am i the fastest boat? no. but i havent spun since and i would rather be slower and live to race another day.
that being said the g-force in my boat is pretty hard as i feel as if im being ripped out of the seat when going through the corners. hell at ming i ripped two bolts out of my seat and the steering column is now looser than it was, as well i had to add a left foot blank to help support my fat ass from being pitched out.
i know we are racing but once again its all for fun and i WILL live to race another day.

i guess what im trying to say is your pushing your boat beyond what the set up can handle and you are going to hurt yourself or somone else...... testing is fine and thats what it's for, but come race day drive within your set up as to not spin out so we can all live to race another day.

I am in the same boat with ya, but when trying different things sometimes you go the wrong dirrection. Maybe Jim Brock is right, Sangers are terible circle boats !

First off, this isn't a personal attack so please don't take it that way. Even as much as I want Ralph to go out there and whoop your ass, I would tell him the same thing if he was in your boat.
I hope that you are taking your entire boat's setup back to the drawing board before this weekend to correct the issues at hand for the sake of the safety of the other racers in the class and the future of this class. After hearing your testimony as well as others from last nights test run, it seems that your boats handling has gone from bad to worse. I personally don't feel that your boat has ever handled well in the turns. I have revisited the Parker '06 and Parker '07 videos and watched you run recently out at Ming 3 weeks ago - it just doesn't turn gracefully. It would porpoise in the turns and you were violently jabbing the throttle through the turns. I admit I have no seat time in a race boat and I am strictly a bench racer at this point, but I am just telling you what I see....and it just doesn't look like it has ever handled well.
At this point, you are stating its attempting to spin out in all magnitudes of turns. As I see it, your boat is now considered an extreme risk to your safety and the others. We are going to have 7 boats out there this weekend and the water is going to be crowded. We all want a safe race.
I know you and I are on the same page as far as the expectations of the class as far as safety. I also know that we both want to see this class grow.
So in closing, I hope you continue to troubleshoot your issues and not throw in the towel by thinking its ok just to "bring up the rear". I really hope you sort these matters out because I want to see you out there safely being competitive this weekend. You have 3 nights of testing left, make em count. ;) Best of luck to you and your crew.

Yah know Brad, I think your are 100% correct and it is the worst handling boat ever made. But it is all I have so we will do some work, spay some speedcoat on the bottom and see where it puts us and go from there. I sure hope it will hang for this race. I think it may have to be taken out back and shot, this old horse has come up lame.
Just not sure what to change at this point, everything is where it should be for this boat as well as many others. I honestly think something must have happend somewhere between here and Merced. Maybe the long ride on the trailer hurt the hull. I have checked every inch and it checks out according to Sanger prints as well as all mods. I am scratching my head ????? ::)

If I had the money I would be racing just for the fun of it.... with all these guys breaking out I might place decent behind the last person and still get 3rd! Maybe, mostly just smack talking. I think i remember reading or hearing someone say Terry Valore once upon a time circle raced a tunnel....if so, he might be someone who you could talk to about it.

Yes! My dad Terry Valore did race a tunnel hull. It was a sleekcraft tunnel 20ft. He says out of all the boats he has driven it was the best handling boat. We would still be racing that boat if it didnt get destroyed in the 2005 Long Beach race. >:(

your tunnel probably handles diff than my daytona, mine doesn't feel like it wants to flip but it is wicked feeling turning flat, something that took some getting used to, and i can still scare the shit out of passangers >:D

your tunnel probably handles diff than my daytona, mine doesn't feel like it wants to flip but it is wicked feeling turning flat, something that took some getting used to, and i can still scare the shit out of passangers >:D
I never got any speed out of it, but it seemed to lean "a little bit less" ;D than a V bottom shaped hull, but wasn't totally flat either.

I dont know if this means anything but the eliminator daytona got it roots from the mod vp boats (or so I was told ) and we all know those boats turn.
Rod , with your boat having a pod on the back , I would look into that aspect of it . I bet nobody knows and some lake test might be in order >:D

Agreed. However the boat would need to go faster than 49 mph to place in the top 3. Actually, that 49 mph thing might be an assett! >:D This is a smack talking thread, right? :D Feels kind of wrong to talk smack seeing as how I've never raced boats in circles... :( Maybe next year... :P

My dads boat got destroyed when another boat turned too soon in front of him and my dad drove right over the top of him, took the top of the guys blower off putting a big hole in the bottom of our boat and doing a 180 about 6ft in the air and landing backwards in the water. The impact also split the deck off the bottom of the boat. No one was hurt!

Apparently, Jim is making up everything and he thinks his boat is running/turning great, but he is misleading everyone to believe its spinning out all over the course. You have gone so far as to bring extreme concerns to others in the class.

Yes, Jim, you might think your boat is turning well, but as I stated before, it never has turned well and I don't believe it ever will.
