Omar sent me an Easter-gram the other day, as soon as I can figure out how to post it from my Blackberrry to here....... LMAO It is FUNNY, and yes, it's as sick as you all suspect it is!!!! Lol.

(In his defense, I sent him one nearly as sick first!)

Well, we took her out today at Canyon Lake. At first, I saw disaster realizing the kids had been playing in the boat, and since I was about 10 miles from the lake when I filler her up, realized they had turned on the bow light (Which is apparently NOT wired through the ignition switch), and it may have been on for days. GREAT! I'm thinking dead batteries.

Anyway drop in in the lake, starts fine, a little sluggish, low battery, but runs good. None of the guages save the Fuel guage works. GREAT! Take it out anyway, (I got a spare engine, why not?) actually had 7 people in the boat and cruise all day in it. What a blast this thing is. Quiet, kinda, cruises at 55 or so with no problem (Will NOT spin above what seems like 3500-4000 rpm via seat of the pants). Tosses out a good roost (Knocked a prick off a wet bike who was being an ass fuggin around in my wake, when he got close enough, lol).  I'm sold on these diverters, what fun. My friends hadda control me from trying to swamp a couple canoes and one guy in a kayak. It was tempting >:D

Great day. Beached it near the dock at the end of the day (Potty break), fugger wouldn't start (Dead Batteries), and then we tried jumping it, still wouldn't start. Hadda get towed to the launch dock about 100 yards away. Prolly a gremlin in there somewhere (or flooded). Oh well. A good day with it tho. Knocked a bunch of screws loose (On the boat, mine already were), and the guage quagmire should be something simple I'm sure. I LIKE IT! Great boat!, just needs some more HP or at least RPM. Could be the pump. You guys saw what the Impeller looked like, that could be just the tip of the iceberg with the pump. Gonna check out the throttle linkages and crap this week to see if that could be the problem.

Next Sunday, BARTLETT LAKE, BOTH BOATS, lol
Hope to see Forkie and TC there.

I immediately named this Omar point, if you notice the rock formation on the RIGHT!

And the roost

So, not quite turnkey. Got some wiring issues, and probably an alternator, but not bad.

And did I mention I LIKE IT?

Cool, good lookin' ride there Ray, sounds like a typical first outing to me, that place looks cool! except maybe the pee pee rock LOL.

Looks like "Step Three" is a keeper.  ;D  FWIW if it didn't have some gremlins it wouldn't be a boat.... ;)

It is kinda cool. But TINY. I'm glad I didn't bring the Moo boat because I coulda never really opened her up anyway. The lake itself isn't as big as what water we could see from our motel rooms at Temple bar, and the pics you see were in the ONLY little canyon leading off the lake (and you can see how wide THAT was)

But beautiful? yes! But not worth a trip to see. I got about 3 dozen more pics of it, which pretty much would be a tour. That's why Bartlett next weekend. We'll see how that goes. Need a Fav lake to terrorize, lol.

Cool boat Ray. Glad it worked good for the most part. We are still planning on hitting Barlett next Sunday. I hope to have a forsure answer by the end of the week. I dont know if you have been to Bartlett before but its awesome. Probably my favorite lake around here. I'm sure you can terrorize that one a little bit.  TC

Nope, never been there. Threatened my bud with bodily harm if he didn't get a 2" ball and 4 wire harness on his Xterra this week tho, lol. Need him to tow the Moo boat up there. I want both of them on the water. The Blue boat ran good, took all day today to charge 1 of the batteries, other is charging now, then I'll look into the wiring tomorrow night. But even 50-55 mph (And that is a Guess, might not have broke 50), unacceptable, lol. At least if I have the Moo boat there, might keep me from doing something silly with this boat, like tear the engine out and go crazy again!

Noone wants to ride in it (the moo boat) with me tho, lol. One guy asked which one was going so he would know to bring his fishing rod or his helmet.

What's the best way to Bartlett taking the 101 north? Don't even know where the launch ramp is? lol

Ray

Bring one of them to Parker, several jets will be in the area next weekend.

Thanks Keith! Would love to, but have B-day parties (2) on Saturday. Gonna be a Sunday only run. We will cruise again before summer is over, you coming to the Echo Bay deal?

Sorry to edit this, but TC, do I need a pass for that lake? and how bad are the Rangers there? Thinking of putting the baffles in, but don't wanna if I don't gotta.

Hey Ray whats up! I would do a Map Quest but coming from your direction you can probably take the 202 or the 60 East to the 101. Go North on the 101 till you get to Scottsdale Road. Go north on Scottsdale Road till you get to Carefree Highway. Then head east and follow the signs. Better do Map Quest cause I never drove to that lake coming from the South. Once you get down to the lake you can see the little marina on your right and the ramp will be straight ahead of you. It cost us $10 for the truck and boat. We got our pass from the marina. I think the vehicle was $6 and the boat was $4. I have never seen any rangers there. I think you would be ok but maybe bring a couple of potatoes to stuff in those headers just in case. Its a calm lake, alot of fast bass boats. Their is a cool stretch where people camp and you can haul ass for eveyone on shore. Be careful cause I was showing off and got to the other end of the lake and my hoodie and shirt flew out. I had to drive home with no shirt. I'm trying hard to join you. My wallet is a little light at the moment. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday and it all depends on how much my wife spends Friday. Shes in the wedding. You know dress, hair, nails, shoes, and drinks Saturday. I will try to let you sometime Saturday. You will love the lake.

I think we may need to have Brad move this to the Project boats thread! lol.

Nothing major, at least the floors staying in it. All minor stuff, but crawled under the dash to look and see if anything apparent stuck out. Yup! backwoods/Hill jack wiring, at it's best, and enough electrical tape I took off to pinstripe the boat with it (And more!).

Was getting VERY windy and bleak looking so I just covered it up for tonight. I'll take some pics of this mess in the morning. The guages are not even bolted in!, no brackets or anything!. I'm amazed none of them popped out Sunday. Wiring I can figure out, I think, reprinted the post on standard color codes, which should help.

Second battery and battery switch affair is not even hooked up, and the second battery is an anchor, breaker is disconnected, tubing from the Pitot to the Speedo is jacked (Should be an easy fix with some nylon tubing and a couple compression connectors)

Anybody know if you can get just the mounting brackets for gauges? I can fab some from some strapping I guess if need be, shouldn't be but a couple of hours with a sawzall and a drill. Did eyeball the bottle of Gorilla glue more than once tonight tho........Nah, better not! >:D

Gauges are lighted, but dunno if that part works or not. Looks to me like someone put these gauges in very recently, and obviously didn't know what they were doing. They look new tho.

Got some other stuff to do in the morning (Taxes! What a friggin nightmare this year!), hopefully I can get a bunch of connectors and fix this mess Thursday night, and change the oil and filter. Oil looks very grey, seems like condensation to me as it looked a little milky before I took it out on sunday. Cleared up after warming it up on the trailer, so I let it be.

But it did fire right up!, that's a good sign. Should be able to get this mess, and finish buttoning up the Moo for Sunday. Hell if Brad can tear half a boat apart and put it back together, including glass work in a week, I should be able to do this much that quick!

And I keep telling myself, tighten all the hose clamps, thighten all the hose clamps........ ;D

OK, a successful trip, gonna start a new thread on this one maybe. Checked out the engine more closely today trying to understand why it won't spin above 4000 rpm, when it's rated 320 HP at 4600. Carb is opening all the way, no MSD unit with Rev Limiter, dunno about the secondaries, which may well be the issue, also dunno about the pump. Kinda scared to reach all the way back there to see if something's caught in the impeller ( Can't see anything from under it?)

Any ideas?

I have a plan for this one, (I know, I know, the kids are frightened too), of putting the Performer RPM on it with an 850. Seems to have an 850 Single pump on it now (Non marine), you guys tell me, it's a lil bigger than the 750's on the Moo.

Anyone tell if it's an 850 from this, lol

Also was wondering about this hose, the one to the left of the front fuel inlet. My 750's have a hole there for an adjustment screw, WTF is a hose doing there? lol

Day off today, figured I'd spend some time replacing all the lost screws that fell out of it on Sunday and get a solid plan together about how to fix all the gremlins.

Kinda what I thought too. Boat runs out, idles fine. Maybe just the impeller is too fugged up, but that wouldn't explain the rpm limitation. I ordered a huge (8") flame arrestor for it as the one on it is about the size of a donut, and it really looks more like a 950 to me. Too much bigger venturi's than my 750's to just be 1 step above I would think. If you aren't busy I'll call you in a few if I can find casting numbers on the carb body.

So Terry seems to beleive the carb is a 750, and I agree with him that the RPM limitation is prolly due to the valvesprings (makes sense now that I think about it). I picked up a pretty good deal on an 850 marine DP, looks like I'm going to go ahead and install the  RPM intake with it that came off the Moo, (Why not?), and ordered some 140lb Comp springs (Can't hurt) and a shim kit. What a tedious process this will be. Been many years since I changed springs on an assembled engine.

My bud is borrowing the boat this weekend to go fishing with a friend of his that's in from Cali, so maybe next week I can get this stuff done. His buddy is a Ford engine nut so maybe some more information will come to light.

Supposed to be mowing my grass (On my to do list), and cleaning up my backyard, but I think I'm gonna go change the oil in the Blue Meaney, lol. Don't want those guys breaking down, and it looks WAY overfull (No water that I can see........yet).

Terry is right on the springs they need at least 100lb Ryanbrindle 460 would not even run good tell we changed the springs on his heads I should say he did the work at my shop. I have the tools do do this, Did you get your gauges mounted. The way I mount gauges is with pvc tube and house clamps those metal clams dont fit half  the time even when you cut them. 2 in tube can be split and made to fit any gauge 2in to 2 1/4 (a dab of sillcone and your done.) :banghead:

Will just kind of add to Rays initial post. Had a charging issue with it the other day, good thing we were at the dock when it wouldnt refire.

At the Positive going into the Voltage Regulator there is 13.9 Volts. At the Positive Post that goes to the Battery was getting 13.4.

Cut open the positive cable coming from the alternator back to the battery and found a layer of oxidation/corrosion on the outside of the copper. So I made a new one and installed it.

Before starting it, took the battery down and had it tested (Just in Case) and it tested fine. Reinstalled battery and checked voltage 12.30. Started the Engine and at the Battery was getting 13.05. Ran for 1.5-2 mins, turned it off. Battery is now at 12.48.

Anybody see anything wrong?

Note: At the ground for the battery if you ground to the nut on the block you get a low voltage rating, if you go to the wire you get a good reading. I will clean that tomorrow to make sure its a good ground.

So in between working I ran out and fired it up.

Battery prior to starting: 12.29
Battery after starting: 13.10
Turned on Blower, Bilge, Bow Light, and Gauge Lights 1 by 1 until they were all on together, never got a voltage of less then: 13.01

Rev'd it a lil and the voltage climed back up to 13.10

Shut it off and the battery reads: 12.32

Anybody think there is an issue with charging?
